Event Details

Do you have a friend or loved one who is seeking decluttering assistance? Are you unsure of how best to help them? Would you like to learn more about how coaching can help? If so, join us for this 8 week online group presented by South Shore Clutter Reduction Collaborative.

South Shore Clutter Reduction Collaborative (www.SouthShoreCRC.org) with generous support from South Shore Elder Services is reaching out to friends, family, and helpers of seniors (age 60+) who experience challenges with clutter and/or hoarding. This is not a group for persons who experience a hoarding challenge themselves.

Online support groups are now open for 8 week sessions beginning in August.

You must be a resident of one of the following communities to join: Braintree, Cohasset, Hingham Holbrook, Hull, Milton, Norwell, Quincy, Randolph, Scituate, or Weymouth. We are not able to include residents from other towns at this time as this is a grant-funded program that requires inclusion of a particular geographic area.

Groups are FREE to join. Groups meet weekly, online and are facilitated by a social work clinician with expertise in working with persons who hoard. The group will meet online (Thursdays from 6:30PM-8:00PM).

The Coaching for Decluttering Success Group (for Friends, Familiy, and Caregivers of Those Who Hoard) will include strategies of how to help a senior best manage the problem of clutter and hoarding with practical information, support and motivation in a group of others who share similar concerns. Over 8 weeks, we'll read portions of the book Digging Out (Tompkins and Hartl, 2009) which provides insight into hoarding and clutter and how to manage the problem. If you are seeking to understand hoarding and clutter problems and wish to help a friend of loved one, please join us!

Participants will be asked to complete a pre- and post-group assessment (to assess experiences with clutter) via phone interview. Seats are limited and a waiting list will be kept in the event that additional spaces open up.
