Description
When the Charles Hayden Planetarium transforms into a theater, the performance is sure to be out of this world. That’s exactly what audiences can expect from Utopian Hotline, a bold new show from Brooklyn’s Theater Mitu.
Event Details
You enter the Planetarium, put on your headphones, and the journey begins. In Utopian Hotline, you’ll hear from astronauts, neighbors, and others as they answer the same question: “How would you envision a more perfect future?” Their responses are sure to surprise and delight you.
Part performance, part intergalactic transmission, this special event transforms the Planetarium into a space for radical storytelling beneath the stars — where sound, science, and imagination collide. Inspired by NASA’s 1977 Voyager Golden Record and shaped by voices from our own time, Utopian Hotline invites you to listen, reflect, and envision a future worth reaching for — where real voicemails become a collective vision of tomorrow.
Presented by ArtsEmerson and the Museum of Science, this live production from Brooklyn’s Theater Mitu blends voicemail confessions, music, and stunning full-dome visuals inside the iconic Charles Hayden Planetarium.
This interstellar collaboration with the SETI Institute and Arizona State University’s Interplanetary Initiative is more than a show — it’s a call to dream together. A bold fusion of science, art, and imagination, the experience unfolds under the stars.
